Holy Cross Board Preps for Merger

Logistics being sorted out as Highwood's St. James School closes.

The School Advisory Board at Holy Cross School in Deerfield has been preparing to transition the school into a regional Catholic learning center since the Archdiocese announced the closing of St. James School in Highwood and merging it with Holy Cross.

The board - which consists of Father Vince Costello of Holy Cross Parish, Holy Cross Principal Janice DiVincenzo and eight Holy Cross parents - has been working on issues such as transportation, preschool and tuition as the schools prepare to merge, the Highland Park News reports.

“We are all working very hard to make changes at Holy Cross that would be attractive to the St. James families,” DiVincenzo wrote on behalf of the board. “We are confident that together we can build an excellent Catholic regional school.”
