Chava Alberstein to sing in Hebrew, English and Yiddish Sunday in Deerfield.

Israeli folk singer Chava Alberstein will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at in Deerfield as a prelude to this summer’s Greater Chicago Jewish Festival

Alberstein, who has recorded more than 60 albums between 1967 and 2008, will appear in Deerfield with her band as part of a current American tour. The local concert is organized Pocet, the Chicago area organization which sponsors the biennial Greater Chicago Jewish Festival.

“She (Alberstein) has not been here in quite a while and we thought it would be fun to let people think about an event in June in December,” event organizer Robert Lorge said. “It’s a good way to get people thinking about the festival.” Next year’s festival will be June 10 in Morton Grove.
