Labor Day 2017: What's Open, What's Closed In Deerfield

DEERFIELD, IL — The dog days of summer are winding down, and we get one last weekend before the school year and fall activities get into full swing. Labor Day 2017 is Monday, Sept. 4. And while it's a day of rest and relaxation for many, it's also a federal holiday, meaning many local services and offices will be closed.
Here's a roundup of what's closed and what'll be open in Deerfield, plus a look at some fun events happening in Chicagoland.

Open
Most big-box retailers will be open — and many are offering Labor Day deals — but smaller businesses and mom and pop stores might be closed, so it's a good idea to call ahead.

Parking
Holiday parking restrictions will be in effect.
Trash pickup
There will be no refuse or recycling collection in Deerfield on Monday. The Labor Day refuse and recycling collection schedules will push each day's collection back by one day.
Also good to know:
- Kids Ride Free on Metra All Summer Long: Up to three children age 11 and under will be able to ride free with each adult through Labor Day.
