At The Goddard School of Deerfield, teaching children about kindness and community is just as important as teaching early literacy, science, and math. Each year, our school proudly participates in a donation drive benefiting Cradles to Crayons Chicago, giving our families the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for children in need throughout the Chicagoland area.
Throughout the summer, families are invited to donate diapers, wipes, and gently used children's clothing for infants through toddler sizes. While these essential items may seem small, they have a tremendous impact on local families facing financial hardship. Every donation helps provide children with the basic necessities they need to thrive.
The Goddard School of Deerfield is proud to be part of a larger community of Chicagoland Goddard Schools that support this annual initiative. Together, our schools collect more than 40 large boxes filled with diapers, wipes, and children's clothing each year. Those donations are distributed by Cradles to Crayons Chicago to local children and families who need them most.
For our students, this partnership is also an opportunity to learn valuable lessons about generosity, empathy, and helping others. Children see firsthand how a community can come together to care for its neighbors, reinforcing the importance of compassion and giving back from an early age.

The Goddard School of Deerfield Helps Local Children Through Partnership with Cradles to Crayons

Summer at The Goddard School of Deerfield is one of the most exciting times of the year! While school may be out, learning never takes a vacation. Our summer camp program is designed to give children the perfect balance of adventure, discovery, creativity, and fun&mdash;all while continuing to build the skills they'll use for years to come.
Every week is filled with engaging, hands-on experiences that encourage children to explore the world around them. From exciting science experiments and sensory activities to art projects, outdoor exploration, and collaborative games, children learn by doing. Whether they're creating colorful chemical reactions, investigating nature, building with unique materials, or exploring different textures through sensory play, every activity sparks curiosity and encourages critical thinking.
One of the biggest highlights of our summer is our weekly in-house field trips. Instead of spending hours on a bus, exciting experiences come directly to our school, allowing children to participate in enriching programs in the comfort and safety of a familiar environment. Throughout the summer, campers enjoy visits from interactive performers, mobile fitness programs, science educators, special animal presentations, and other unique experiences that make every week feel like a new adventure.
Of course, no summer would be complete without our popular Water Days! These favorite summer events give children the opportunity to cool off while developing gross motor skills, coordination, and confidence through active outdoor play. Laughter fills our playgrounds as children splash, run through sprinklers, enjoy water games, and make lasting summer memories with their friends.
Our summer program is about much more than keeping children busy. Every activity is intentionally planned to support all areas of development, including social-emotional growth, communication, problem-solving, creativity, and physical development. Children strengthen friendships, practice teamwork, build confidence, and develop independence while having an incredible time.
At The Goddard School of Deerfield, we believe children learn best when they're engaged, curious, and having fun. Our experienced teachers create meaningful experiences that combine play with purposeful learning, ensuring that every summer day is filled with opportunities to discover something new.
Whether children are splashing during Water Day, conducting a science experiment, exploring a sensory invitation, or participating in one of our exciting in-house field trips, they are making memories while continuing to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
