Man In Hotel Urinates On Self, Passes Out, Attacks Cop: Police
A Vernon Hills man is accused of striking an officer called to a Deerfield hotel lobby where he had passed out and soiled himself.

DEERFIELD, IL — A Vernon Hills man who urinated on himself and passed out in a hotel lobby before attacking an Deerfield police officer earlier this month has been charged with misdemeanor battery, police said.
Simon Veksler, 56, of the 200 block of Coventry Circle, Vernon Hills, was arrested in the early morning hours of April 5 at Marriott Suites, 2 Parkway North. Hotel management had called police shortly after midnight to report that a drunk man had urinated on himself and passed out in front of the hotel elevators, according to a police report.
Officers found Veksler hitting at a side table with his head down, police said. Two of the officers shook his shoulder in an attempt to get his attention.

"Are you OK? It's the Deerfield police," they said, according to the report. Police said Veksler slurred his words and only offered mumbled profanities directed at the officers in response.
"It was well apparent," reported the sergeant who had been called to the scene, that Veksler was "highly intoxicated and that he had soiled himself."

After twice trying to wake Veksler up, the sergeant reported that he grabbed the drunk man by his jacket in an effort to get him to sit up to talk. While doing so, Veksler "sprung up and lunged at me with his right hand," striking the officer's right arm.
Veksler was "escorted to the ground" and cuffed, reported the officer. The sergeant said he was uninjured in the encounter.
After continuing to be belligerent and swear while being handcuffed, Veksler later became "more coherent" and said he had not know the three uniformed officers were police. He told police he was uninjured, according to the police report.
Police said Veksler apologized to the officers and explained he "never drinks, but drank a lot today because he is having personal problems." He eventually became more cooperative, and explained he was so drunk he did not know what he was doing.
Veksler was released on a recognizance bond and is due back in court on Tuesday, when he will have an opportunity to enter a plea. No lawyer was listed as representing him in court records.
