No Adoption Fees at Orphans of the Storm August 15

Orphans of the Storm animal shelter in Riverwoods will waive adoption fees for those looking to adopt adult cats and dogs on Saturday, August 15 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“Clear the Shelter Day” is a partnership between the shelter and NBC-5-Chicago/WMAQ and Telemundo Chicago/WSNS to waive the adoption fee, which is $90, in order to find as many homes as possible for the adult pets who have yet to find homes.

“We look forward to welcoming people from throughout the northern suburbs at our ‘Clear the Shelters’ adoption opportunity,” said Gail Donahue, Shelter Administrator. “As a longstanding Riverwoods institution, we have made it our goal to find good homes for all adoptable dogs and cats that come our way for almost 90 years. This is a great opportunity for anyone to come to explore our beautiful facility and find the next loving and lovable addition to their family. And by waiving our adoption fees, the prospect of achieving our goal of ‘clearing the shelter’ is looking very bright.”

All dogs and cats over the age of five months are available for free adoption. Admission is free (routine medical expenses will still apply), but those looking to adopt should bring valid identification with their current address. It is recommended that families also bring as many members of their family as possible (including other dogs) to ensure that the pet they are hoping to adopt is a good fit.

Orphans of the Storm is located at 2200 Riverwoods Road in Riverwoods.
