Orphans of the Storm Aims to Find Homes for Senior Pets
Adopt a Senior Pet Month promotion includes chance to win $500 Ruggable gift certificate

In honor of November’s Adopt a Senior Pet Month, Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter is hosting a fee-waived “Oldies and Goodies” adoption promotion on Saturday and Sunday, November 26 and 27 to find homes for their dogs and cats seven years old and older.
“Our shelter has been helping animals for 94 years, so we appreciate our more experienced pets,” Shelter Director Rick Alexander said.
“Currently, we have seven senior dogs and two senior cats. Shelter life can be especially hard on aging animals, so our goal is to get these nine deserving pets into homes to celebrate the holidays with a family.”

“We’re hoping for a holiday miracle for pets like 9-year-old Cece, a Labrador retriever mix, who’s been at the shelter since July,” Sandy De Lisle, Head of Development and Community Engagement, said.
“Cece recently attended an offsite adoption event where she enjoyed her crated car ride and was great with adults and children as the official door greeter. Senior pets like Cece just need someone to give them a chance. They have a lot of love to give and an appreciation for the simple things in life.”

To help entice adopters for its senior pets, the shelter has partnered with rug maker, Ruggable on the event. Anyone who adopts a senior pet will be entered into a raffle to win a $500 gift certificate for a high-end, washable, and pet-friendly rug.
“Thanks to a generous donor who’s sponsoring the seniors’ adoption fees and Ruggable, anyone who adopts a senior during our event will get a fabulous animal and have a great chance at winning a rug that’s the envy of pet parents everywhere!
“We’re hopeful all our senior pets will be on comfy couches (and rugs) real soon,” De Lisle added.
