Orphans of the Storm hosts “Run with the Big Dogs" this weekend
The event marks the 1,000th playgroup event on Saturday, July 22 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Orphans of the Storm (OOTS) invites you to its highly anticipated 1,000th playgroup event, "Run with the Big Dogs" on Saturday, July 22nd, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the animal shelter, 2200 Riverwoods Road, Riverwoods, IL.
Registration is not required, and the event is for shelter dogs only.
Experience the joy of observing dogs being dogs as we highlight our adoptable dogs who weigh over 40 lbs. It's a wonderful opportunity to witness their playful and loving nature firsthand. Plus, to encourage adoptions, we will waive the adoption fees for every dog participating in the playgroup that day.

In addition to the exciting doggie playtime, OOTS staff will be providing complimentary popcorn and refreshments for all attendees. This is the perfect chance to mingle with fellow animal lovers and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon.
"At our public playgroup in June, four dogs were adopted, so we're hoping to beat that number in July," says Sandy De Lisle, Head of Development and Community Outreach. "If you've been thinking about adding a dog to your family or want a playmate for your current dog, this Saturday is the perfect time to observe some dog-friendly dogs and take one home during the fee-waived event!"

“Run with the Big Dogs” will be hosted at the Jim Farmer Memorial Enrichment Park, a wide open space on the OOTS campus, where the dogs can engage in stimulating activities and socialize with each other. “It's a remarkable setting to commemorate our 1,000th playgroup, surrounded by the natural beauty of Riverwoods,” De Lisle said.
"Since 2019, when we started our playgroups, we've been watching dogs transform into happier, more confident versions of themselves when they are given the opportunity to be a part of a pack," says Ron Harth, Dog Enrichment Coordinator.
By attending this event, Harth added, “you’ll have a great time supporting our mission of finding loving homes for dogs in need. Orphans of the Storm relies on the generosity and compassion of individuals in our surrounding communities.”
Mark your calendars for "Run with the Big Dogs" on Saturday, July 22nd, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Help OOTS celebrate this significant milestone, rally support for large-breed canines, and create memorable moments for its beautiful and friendly adoptable dogs.
