Overstock Furniture Building Proposed for Redevelopment

Developer plans rehab project that could attract yoga studio, more office space to Deerfield Road site.

DEERFIELD, IL - The former Overstock Furniture store on Deerfield Road could be rehabbed into a multi-tenant retail space if a developer’s wishes come to fruition.

Jonathan Berger, owner of Berger Asset Management, LLC, has presented plans to combine the structure at 636 Deerfield Road and an adjoining property into as many as five retail suites, according to the Deerfield Review.

The 14,000-square foot structure has been described in its current condition as “fair to poor,” but Berger is confident the building could be “the way downtown Deerfield should be.”

“We’re going to gut the building and redo it into retail and commercial space,” he said. “The (east and west entrances) might be more suited for a yoga studio or office while the front would be more traditional retail.”
