Paintings of "Loveliness" Displayed at NSYMCA

A show of realistic contemporary paintings by Winnetka resident Angie Jungwirth is on display during the month of March.

A show of realistic contemporary paintings by Winnetka resident Angie Jungwirth is on display during the month of March at the North Suburban YMCA’s Community Gallery. The exhibit is called “Loveliness,” and encompasses the artist’s views of how ordinary things become extraordinary.

The public is invited to a reception for Ms. Jungwirth on Thursday, March 5th from 6-8:00 p.m. at the North Suburban YMCA, located at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook.

“The process of painting involves overriding your brain which tells you the lemon is yellow, the sidewalk gray. It is the process of training your eye to consider the subtle value shifts across a plane or object,” commented Ms. Jungwirth. “It is this enhanced way of seeing the world around me, which is one I have always found beauty in, but now moments that grab my attention involve an almost microscopic consideration of the elements.”

Ms. Jungwirth’s work has been on display in various churches where she spent years painting backdrops and designing sets. Her piece “Consider the Lily” won first place in the 2012 North Shore Art League Member show. When she is not painting loveliness, she says she is out in the world purposing to let people know that they matter.
All of the paintings in the show are for sale, and a portion of the purchase price will benefit the North Suburban YMCA’s Visual Arts Program.
