Police in Deerfield to Stress School Safety

That means a crackdown on cell phone use and other traffic offenses as District 109 students head back to school.

Deerfield Police will aggressively target cell phone use, speeding and school bus stop-arm violations as part of a school safety initiative beginning on August 27, the first day of school for students in grades one through eight in District 109.

Deerfield Police Deputy Chief Tom Keane addressed school zone safety Monday night while presenting the department’s semi-annual report before the Village Board, according to the Deerfield Review.

“We will be hitting all the school zones,” said Keane. “We want to make sure kids, crossing guards and everyone else is safe.”
