Riverwoods Police Join Multi-Agency Effort to Boost Route 21 Safety

The effort will target common dangerous driving behaviors, aiming to reduce crashes through combined enforcement and public awareness.

RIVERWOODS, IL — Next week, the Riverwoods Police Department will join several northern Illinois law enforcement agencies in a concentrated initiative to improve safety on the Route 21 corridor. On Tuesday, June 17, the regional effort will target common dangerous driving behaviors, aiming to reduce crashes through combined enforcement and public awareness.

Riverwoods officers will specifically focus on the following, which they say are the leading causes of serious and fatal crashes:

  • Speeding
  • Distracted Driving (Cell Phone Use)
  • Reckless Driving
  • DUI

"Ultimately, this initiative is about saving lives," said Bruce Dayno, Chief of the Riverwoods
Police Department. "Our collaborative effort across law enforcement agencies sends a clear
message: we are united in our shared responsibility to prevent crashes and keep our roads and
communities safe."
