Riverwoods Road Resurfacing, Bike Path Expansion Approved
Lincolnshire village trustees approved a package of measures to expand the bike path along Riverwoods Road and resurface area streets.

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL — The Lincolnshire Village Board last month approved nearly $1.3 million for road resurfacing and bicycle path expansion over the next year, Pioneer Press reported. Trustees allocated the money to resurface Riverwoods Road, the nearby bike path and a handful of residential streets in the area.
Village officials said the resurfacing work will begin soon and should be completed by the end of the year, according to the Lincolnshire Review. Bidding for the bike path expansion will open next month, with work planned to begin in the spring.
Trustees approved the package of five public works measures at their Sept. 23 meeting. About $150,000 of the cost of the projects will be covered by an Illinois Department of Transportation grant the village has already received.

When completed next summer, there will be bike paths along the west side of Riverwoods Road almost all the way through the village. There will also be an additional pathway near Milwaukee Avenue. Some residents at last month's meeting called for the path to be further expanded to cover a nearly one-mile stretch north of Half Day Road, Pioneer Press reported.
