Safeguard Will Prevent Sex Offenders From Entering District 109 Schools

New security measures enacted for all visitors at Deerfield schools.

LobbyGuard has been installed in all six of the district schools, according to a Deerfield Review report.
Anyone visiting a school in the district will have to enter through two secure doors and submit their driver’s license or identification card, which will be scanned through the LobbyGuard database.

The database can determine if the person is on a sex offender registry in any state.

"If they are on the registry we would not allow them into the building," Shepard Middle School Principal John Filippi said. "The district has procedures in place and they would be followed. The administrator in charge would also follow up with law enforcement."

While the new system safeguards against the entry of sex offenders, it won’t be able to track if the person seeking entry is on a terror watch list or has been convicted of a non sex related crime.
