Self Storage Units Damaged, Burglarized: Riverwoods PD Blotter

The incidents occurred at a self-storage facility on Milwaukee Avenue last week, according to police.

RIVERWOODS, IL — The following information comes from the Riverwoods Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police.   • Hector D. Garcia, 26, of the 2700 block of 26th Street, Zion, is accused of speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested at 12:46 a.m. Sept. 15, near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He was released and assigned a court date of Oct. 16.
  • Ignacio Tinajero Cruz, 21, of the 11300 block of W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park, is accused of speeding, no valid driver's license, open transportation of alcohol, DUI alcohol, and was arrested at 3:14 a.m. Sept. 15, near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He was released and assigned a court date of Oct. 16.
  • Giovanni Medina Salgado, 24, of the 600 block of Piper Lane, Prospect Heights, is accused of speeding, DUI alcohol, and was arrested at 12:23 a.m. Sept. 2, near Milwaukee Avenue and Chicory Lane. He was released and assigned a court date of Oct. 9.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • During the early morning hours of Sept. 12, police were called to a self-storage facility on Milwaukee Avenue and found that several outside storage units had been damaged and burglarized. Detectives are investigating the incident.
  • At 9:33 p.m. Sept. 14, police were summoned to a medical facility on Deerfield Road for a reported criminal damage to property incident. Officers learned that a visitor to the facility had left his vehicle parked in front of the building for several hours, and when he returned, he saw that someone had broken the rear hatch window on his vehicle. The incident is currently under investigation.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

Police responded to the 2600 block of Lake Cook Road at 8:45 a.m. Sept. 1, for a burglary to motor vehicle report. Various items had been stolen from inside a vehicle while it was parked overnight.
