Sign Campaign Helps Prevent Car Burglaries in Deerfield
Police department posts signs throughout the village reminding car owners to lock it up and remove anything valuable.

DEERFIELD, IL - Signs urging local residents to “Lock it or Lose it” have been popping up around Deerfield lately thanks to a proactive crime prevention measure initiated by the Deerfield Police Department.
“The signs are to remind our residents to lock their vehicles, remove their valuables in order to prevent theft from motor vehicles,” said Sgt. Oliver Cachola of the DPD. “Locking cars and removing items from plain view is the most effective way to prevent burglary from motor vehicle.”
The vertical signs warn car owners to “hide your things,” “lock your car” and “take valuables.”
