Stevenson Is Most Difficult Public High School in Illinois: Report

Adlai E. Stevenson High School ranked as the second most difficult in the state in a recent Washington Post study.

Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire is the most challenging public high school in Illinois and second most challenging in the state overall, according to a recent Washington Post study.

The study ranked more than 2,300 high schools based on a formula it calls the “Challenge Index” ratio, which is calculated by taking the total number of advanced placement, international baccalaureate and advanced international certificate of education tests administered at a school in 2014 and dividing by the number of seniors who graduated that same year.

The study ranked 72 Illinois high schools that qualified and were part of 11 percent of the roughly 22,000 public high schools in the U.S. that reached the standard.
