Student Designs 2011 Farmers Market Poster

Jason Price wins contest, photo now on display.

It’s that time of year again. When vendors of all kinds flock to Deerfield to sell everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to cheeses, baked goods and nuts.

With the right around the corner, the village debuted this year’s poster that will be marketing it.

“It was a very difficult contest,” Deerfield Farmers Market organizer Joan Reed announced at the village board’s last meeting earlier this month. It was the second year Deerfield held a poster design contest. “We had a lot of very exciting pieces of art,” Reed commented.

Out of all the pieces submitted, Deerfield High School student Jason Price’s photograph was selected as this year’s winner. “I took the picture and then I dropped in all the fonts and lettering,” Price told village trustees. “I messed with it in Photoshop to get it right.”

“I thought it captured the excitement we would like to see in people’s kitchen,” Reed said about Price’s piece. “Lots of fruits and vegetables and a notepad that says Deerfield’s Farmers Market on the top of their to-do list.”
