Top 5 Bathroom Remodeling Trends for 2017
Award-winning Chicagoland Designers share their predictions for the top 5 bathroom remodeling trends for 2017
Normandy Remodeling, a Hinsdale-based design build firm, has enlisted their award-winning design team to determine bathroom remodeling trends for the New Year. Based on current demands and technological advancements, this year’s bathroom remodels are expected to include mad-made products that mimic natural materials, plenty of texture and decorative details.
Here are the top five bathroom remodeling trends Normandy Designers expect to be big in 2017:
- Wood Tile – Recent technological advances have led to a porcelain tile that looks exactly like hardwood flooring. There are plenty of colors and plank sizes to choose from, allowing you to create everything from a rustic to modern aesthetic. Additionally, because porcelain is not a natural material like wood, it can get wet and the only maintenance needed is a basic cleaning.
- Decorative Shower Niches – Shower niches are getting a little something extra – beautiful accent tiles. This design element not only adds a focal point to your bathroom, but helps to break up the shower wall. Additionally, it can allow you to introduce color into the space.
- Engineered Stone Instead of Marble – Quartz and porcelain do a beautiful job of impersonating marble down to the veins. Additionally, they offer a slew of benefits. Unlike a natural marble stone, these materials are non-porous and do not need to be sealed. Their non-porous nature also means that your tile or countertops will not stain should something accidentally spill.
- White on White –White is considered to be the color of perfection, evoking a feeling of wholeness and completion. With this current trend, various shades of white cabinetry, countertops and tile are all working together to create a striking, monochromatic space.
- Texture – Texture is being incorporated to create interest, especially in monochromatic color schemes like the white on white listed above. This includes textured wallpaper, tiles, glass and metals.
While these top five trends have been highlighted by the Normandy Design Team, there are still more design ideas that can be incorporated into a bathroom remodel.
