Trio 'Holds Resident At Bay' During Home Invasion: Riverwoods PD

The victim was able to flee from the residence to a neighbor's home following the incident.

RIVERWOODS, IL — Three people involved in a Sunday night home invasion have been arrested. According to Riverwoods police, all three were charged with two counts of felony home invasion.

Those arrested are:

  • Keshaun R. Handcox, 19, of the 8200 block of S. Kingston Avenue, Chicago
  • Aaliyah L. Baker, 20, of the 12900 block of S. May Street, Calumet Park
  • Joshua M. Mitchell, 29, of the 8500 block of S. Yates Boulevard, Chicago

At around 11:05 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to a home near Blackthorn Road and Greenbriar Lane for a reported robbery. According to the preliminary investigation, three people had entered the victim's home and held the resident at bay while removing various valuables. During the incident, the victim was able to flee from the residence to a neighbor's home and call police.

A subsequent investigation led to the identification and apprehension of the three suspects. Police said this incident appears to be targeted towards this specific resident, and there is no further threat to the public.

Handcox and Baker were taken to the Lake County Jail on Tuesday, and are awaiting their first court appearance. Police said Mitchell remains in custody and will be brought to the Lake County Jail in the near future.
