Video: Farmers Market Wraps Up For Season, Planning Starts For Next Year

Patrons flocked to Deerfield to get in last purchases before Mother Nature sent vendors packing.

For several months, Deerfield residents haven't had to travel very far for fresh fruits and vegetables. Since June, the farmers market has set up shop on Saturdays near the corner of Deerfield Road and Robert York Avenue.

But now that the 16th season has officially ended it's almost time to start planning for the 17th.

According to the market's manager, Joan Reed, this year was a success.

"We saw an increase in customer traffic," Reed said. "It's the [highest] number of vendors that we've had in the 16 years that we've been doing this." 30 vendors participated in this year's farmers market.

Which is great motivation for market organizers who launch preparations for next season in a couple of months.

"We start planning in January," Reed said by sending out applications to vendors. "Then we think of different activities that we can do next year to make it even more fun."
