Deerfield Woman Dies After Stabbing, Husband Charged With Murder
The woman found stabbed at her home Friday was pronounced dead Saturday, and her husband was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

DEERFIELD, IL — A Deerfield woman died Saturday, a day after she was stabbed in her home by her husband. Gary A. Kamen, 55, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder in the death of Karyn Kamen, 53, at their home in the 1000 block of Peachtree Lane, authorities said.
Deerfield police were called around 3:40 p.m. for a report of an argument at the Kamen's home. Officers arrived to find Ms. Kamen with multiple stab wounds. She was taken to a Highland Park Hospital with significant injuries. Investigators determined Mrs. Kamen was stabbed during a domestic dispute with a family member.
Mrs. Kamen was a substitute teacher at Deerfield District 109, a former instructor and staffer for the Deerfield Park District and an alum of Niles North High School, according to social media profiles. Mr. Kamen is a former floor trader at the Chicago Board of Trade who was, until last month, the chief market strategist for a financial services company.

The Deerfield Police Department requested assistance from the county's inter-agency investigative group due to the severity of Mrs. Kamen's injuries, according to task force spokesman Sgt. Chris Covelli. He said the incident appeared to be an isolated domestic dispute with no risk to the community at large.
A judge set bail at $10 million for Mr. Kamen Sunday. He is due back in court Tuesday for an attorney status hearing, according to court records. An autopsy Monday determined Mrs. Kamen died from injuries caused by a sharp object, and the death investigation is ongoing.
