11 Chicagoland Passengers Sue Aeromexico Over Plane Crash

Corboy & Demetrio files several lawsuits for Chicagoland passengers aboard the Aeromexico plane that crashed on July 31.

COOK COUNTY, IL — Corboy & Demetrio filed six lawsuits Monday against Aeromexico on behalf od 11 passengers on the airline's Flight 2431, which crashed on July 31, 2018, in Durango, Mexico. According to the law firm, the plane crashed shortly after an attempt to take-off during a heavy storm. The plane crashed a few hundred yards from the General Guadalupe Victoria International Airport runway while on the way to Mexico City, Corboy & Demetrio said in a release.

“All of the people on this flight have the right to know exactly what caused the plane to crash. A plane just doesn’t drop from the sky because it’s raining hard,” said Corboy & Demetrio Co-founder Thomas A. Demetrio, in a release.

The 11 passengers represented by Corboy & Demetrio are all Chicagoland residents, and include a mother, her son, a couple and their two minor sons, a grandmother, her daughter and her two minor daughters, and another person.

“Weather, to some extent, is always a factor in flight operations. However, safe flight operations depend on how the airline and its pilots monitor, respond to and correct for severe weather conditions, both in the preflight and inter-flight decision making process, in order to avoid a mishap,” Partner Francis Patrick Murphy explained in a release from the firm.
