6 Injured In Apartment Fire, Explosion In Des Plaines: Report

Multiple people were rescued from balconies at the apartment building during the early morning blaze, according to reports.

DES PLAINES, IL — At least six people were injured early Wednesday in a reported apartment fire and explosion.

According to the Niles Fire Department, a number of area fire departments assisted in the overnight incident, which included the rescue of people from multiple balconies in the three-story building.

CBS Chicago is reporting firefighters responded to the fire in the 1200 block of Harding Avenue at around 1 a.m., finding "heavy flames and smoke" upon arrival.
