Algonquin Road Closes For Rail Repairs

DES PLAINES, IL – Delays and traffic backups on Algonquin Road in Des Plaines could last until Wednesday as the Illinois Department of Transportation works on repairs at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing between Wolf Road and Mount Prospect Road, according to IDOT.

Work on the repairs began Monday and are expected to be completed by Wednesday.

A detour in place directs drivers on eastbound Algonquin Road to go south on Mount Prospect, east on Oakton Street and north on Wolf Road until the point Algonquin is open again. Westbound traffic takes the reverse route.
