As a parent in the district and longtime community member, he says he’s committed to supporting student success and inclusive opportunities for the roughly 4,300 students served in Des Plaines and Rosemont.
2. Body discovered in Des Plaines identified as missing Glenview man: police (meigsindypress.com) — An 88-year-old Glenview man reported missing in April was found deceased earlier this month on Harrison Street in Des Plaines, authorities confirmed. Investigators are still working to determine why he was in Des Plaines and the circumstances of his death, after a multi-agency search that began when he walked away from his home.
3. Chicago Racing Pioneer Dies At Age 100 (speedsport.com) — A legendary Chicago-area racing official who spent his later years living in Des Plaines has died at age 100. Elmer Steinbeck helped shape Midwest stock car racing from the 1940s on, working at tracks like O’Hare Stadium, Rockford Speedway, and Illiana Motor Speedway before retiring and eventually relocating from Des Plaines to Tennessee.
4. ONCC Recognizes ‘Quiet' Airlines With Awards (journal-topics.com) — Airlines flying out of O’Hare were honored for following the Fly Quiet noise-reduction program, which aims to lessen overnight jet noise for nearby communities like Des Plaines. United, GoJet, and Turkish Airlines earned top recognition, and officials hope the awards push more carriers to route flights and maintenance in ways that reduce neighborhood disruption.
