DES PLAINES, IL — The Des Plaines Police Department will host its National Night Out celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Forest Elementary School and Algonquin Middle School.
The free event will feature activities for all ages, including specialty police vehicles, a K-9 demonstration, games, food trucks, live entertainment and displays from local organizations.
Forest Elementary School is at 1375 S. Fifth Ave., while Algonquin Middle School is at 767 E. Algonquin Road. Activities will be spread across both campuses and the adjoining green space.
Free parking will be available at both schools, with entrances accessible from Forest Avenue and Fifth Avenue.
Fifth Avenue is under construction, but officials said the roadway will remain open for southbound traffic during the event. Street parking will not be available along the construction area.
Drivers are asked to follow posted roadwork signs and observe work-zone speed limits.
Accessible parking will be available in the Algonquin Middle School lot.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign intended to strengthen relationships between residents and law enforcement while promoting neighborhood safety.
