The Biggest Halal Fest Held in Chicago Hosted by Illinois Muslim Chamber of Commerce

The fourth annual Chicagoland Halal Festival was held . on Saturday, August 8, and on Sunday, August 9, 2026. More than 28,000 people attended the event, hosted by the Illinois Muslim Chamber of Commerce and Halal Group, at its new, larger location at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles. More than 140 delicious and tasty food and merchandise vendors offered a wide variety of halal street food, including Pakistani, Indian, Middle Eastern,
Turkish, South Asian, American, Mexican and Indonesian cuisine.
"This is our fourth festival, which we held in Naperville last year because of the parking issue we are holding in the St. Charles area," said Omar Ahmed, a member of the festival organizing committee.
The opening ceremony was attended by a number of federal, state and local political officials, including several members of Congress, state senators, Pakistani Consul General Zaman Mehdi, and several mayors of nearby cities.
The Illinois Chamber of Commerce honored Chicago civic and humanitarian activist Dr. Dilara Saeed with its Lifetime Achievement Award.
The two-day event, hosted by the Illinois Muslim Chamber of Commerce, featured a halal food festival from around the world, a festival of vendors and artists from the Midwest and other states, and exciting cultural attractions such as camel rides and traditional dances such as zaffa and dabka.

According to Shafiq Abubakar, president of the Illinois Muslim Chamber, the event is about identity, solidarity, and providing a place for Muslim and non-Muslim communities to come together and celebrate diversity and shared values. It's not just about food and drink.

More than fifty specialty food vendors served street food dishes from Pakistan, India, the Middle East, Turkey, Central Asia, and South Asia.

More than seventy small businesses sold custom jewelry, colorful clothing, and handmade goods and household items.

Space was set aside for carnival games, group activities, and children's activities, among other programs. The kids had a blast on the train and camel rides.

Pakistani Legendary singers Ali Azmat and Mustafa Zahid performed live on Saturday night as part of the star-studded Junoni Tour, unleashing the magic of sound and taking the festival by storm.

The crowd at the festival was in high spirits. They were dancing to the beat of drums and playing the traditional bhangra Dance. The atmosphere was very exciting and colourful.
