On Sunday, August 16, 2026, the St. James Farm Forest Preserve in Warrenville, Illinois hosted the Kasat Diabetes Organization's annual 5K Walk and Community Health Fair and other health-related activities. To promote diabetes prevention, the event brought people together for exercise, free health education, and health education.

More than three hundred community members from all walks of life, including children and seniors, attended the event. The goal of the event was to unite the neighborhood and raise awareness about diabetes and healthy living.

The event brought people together for mobility, free health screenings, and health education to help prevent diabetes.

Dr. Nuzhat Chalisa, a board-certified endocrinologist, founded the foundation in memory of her father, who passed away due to diabetes.
The event was moderated by Arshia Hasnain.
The event successfully mobilized local residents, healthcare volunteers, and fitness enthusiasts to raise awareness about the important role diabetes plays in preventing diabetes, promoting early diagnosis, and encouraging active, healthy living in the community. One in three Americans is currently living with diabetes or pre-diabetes — many of whom are unaware of their condition. The foundation was founded by a board-certified endocrinologist.
Mr. Zaman Mehdi, Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago, also participated in the walk. "We are all here today to support an organization that truly helps our community and provides awareness about diabetes," he said. Raising awareness about diabetes and supporting organizations that fight it is essential for our community. The organization's passion is commendable.

Participants had access to free public health services, including important diabetes screenings and blood pressure checks aimed at early detection. In addition to medical assessments, the fair featured morning yoga sessions, community education workshops, and a nutritious breakfast provided to all registered participants.

After the health fair activities, participants took a scenic walk through the forest preserve grounds. "Every step and every registration has a direct impact on a family in need," Dr. Chalisa said before the walk.

The Cust Diabetes Organization's year-round public health services are fully funded by a $25 registration fee. With these funds, low-income families and underserved areas will have access to free diabetes testing, clinical outreach, and prevention education programs for the entire upcoming year.

The event demonstrated how local community initiatives can address a national health issue one step at a time through collaborative efforts, practical health education, and prompt medical examinations. The Custodial Diabetes Organization is a non-profit organization with a mission to reduce the local impact of diabetes worldwide. The Custodial Diabetes Organization empowers people and families to take charge of their long-term metabolic health through active community outreach, frequent free diagnostic screenings, and evidence-based healthy living courses.
