• Lisle man in fatal Fox River boat crash now charged with murder, allegedly had cocaine, pot in system (shawlocal.com) — A Des Plaines woman and U.S. Marine, Magdalena Jablonska, was killed in a high-speed Fox River boat crash, and the Lisle man accused of driving now faces a first-degree murder charge. Prosecutors say he was intoxicated and had drugs in his system, while her family and fiancé pursue a wrongful death lawsuit after a fundraiser in her memory met its goal.
   

• Tollway OKs Contract To Move Along I-490 Corridor Project (journal-topics.com) — Part of the massive I-490 Tollway project, which will give western access to O'Hare, includes construction work in Des Plaines near Elk Grove, meaning nearby residents can expect ongoing heavy infrastructure activity. The Illinois Tollway Board just approved another contract to manage 19 construction packages, pushing total 2026 spending past half a billion dollars and supporting thousands of jobs statewide.
