• Drinking At Downtown Train Stations Leads Cops To Make Arrest (journal-topics.com) — An evening check on people drinking near the downtown Des Plaines train station led police to a man wanted on a Cook County warrant. Officers arrested the Mount Prospect resident at the Miner Street station and brought him to the Des Plaines police station before a detention hearing, underscoring how routine patrols can uncover more serious issues.
• Des Plaines Woman Gets 40 Years For Killing 3-Year-Old Nephew (patch.com) — A former Des Plaines resident has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree murder for pushing her 3-year-old nephew into Lake Michigan near Navy Pier in 2022. Cook County prosecutors and a judge found her guilty but mentally ill, closing a years-long case that has drawn attention from many families across the northwest suburbs.
