Fake License Plate Leads To Felony Charge: Des Plaines Police Blotter (patch.com) — Residents in Des Plaines can see how local police handled several recent incidents, including a felony charge over a fake license plate discovered during a traffic stop on Des Plaines River Road. The blotter also details an order of protection violation on Spruce Avenue, a warrant arrest at the Cumberland Metra station, a wallet theft at the Miner Street Metra station, and a hit-and-run at Cumberland Circle and Golf Road.
   

2. Des Plaines Police Release Recordings Of Fatal Touhy Avenue Shooting (patch.com) — Des Plaines residents now have access to newly released dashcam and audio recordings from the Sept. 9 police shooting on Touhy Avenue that left 21-year-old Ayham Babidi dead. Investigators from an outside major crimes team and the Cook County State's Attorney are still reviewing whether the Des Plaines sergeant's use of force was criminal or justified, while officials detail the 911 call and rapid confrontation that preceded the shots.
   

3. Man With Scooter Clipped By Train Near Downtown Depot (journal-topics.com) — Train service through downtown Des Plaines was halted for about an hour Wednesday evening after a 20-year-old man with a scooter was clipped by a Metra train near Pearson Street by the Des Plaines station. Paramedics found him stable, and he declined hospital transport, while Metra police continue investigating how he ended up so close to the Union Pacific Northwest line tracks.
   

4. Check Your Tickets: $1 Million Powerball Winner Sold in Illinois (fun1043.com) — A Des Plaines woman recently scored a $2 million lottery jackpot, one of several big Illinois wins that also include a $1 million Powerball ticket sold at a Spring Grove Jewel-Osco. With multiple six- and seven-figure prizes still unclaimed, residents who've bought recent tickets are urged to dig them out and double-check the numbers.
