A man and woman, both 41, were found dead in the home, police said.

NORRIDGE, IL — Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Norridge, authorities said.

Officers responded around 6:45 p.m. Monday to a home in the 4100 block of Ozanam Avenue for a well-being check and to assist emergency medical personnel, according to police, who said the officers found a man and a woman, both dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman as 41-year-old Ashley E. Rivera of Norridge but had not named the man as of Tuesday afternoon, only disclosing that he was also a 41-year-old Norridge resident.

"Based on preliminary investigative findings, authorities believe the male was responsible for the death of the female before taking his own life," police said in a news release.

"This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the surrounding community or the general public."
