Fire Department's Matt Matzl Promoted to Firefighter/Engineer

The Des Plaines Fire Department hosted a coffee and cake
reception acknowledging a retirement and three promotions on October 24, 2012 at Fire Station #1, 405 S. River Road.  Officials, co-workers, family and friends gathered to celebrate the retirement of Fire Department Firefighter/Engineer Michael Klausing, the promotion of Christopher Wozny to Battalion Chief, the promotion of William (“Cully”) Butenschoen to Lieutenant and the promotion of Matthew Matzl to Firefighter/Engineer.

Des Plaines Firefighter/Paramedic Matt Matzl was promoted to Firefighter/Engineer at a ceremony held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Fire Station #1, 405 S. River Road.  Matzl began working with the Fire Department on October 15, 2001.  (pictured above left to right) Newly promoted Firefighter/Engineer Matt Matzl, Fire Chief Alan Wax, and Deputy Fire Chief Randy Trost pose for a photograph in front of a ladder truck at Station #1, as Matzl displays his new Engineer helmet shield.
