Black Day observed in Chicagoland over contested Kashmir
Kashmiris are observed 'Black Day' across Chicagoland and several cities of the USA.
Every year on October 27 Chicagoland and several places of major USA cities also several places in the world were observed Black Day. In Chicago they organized a big seminar on October 26th, 2018 many Pakistani and Kashmiri community members from Chicago and local academicians gathered at the Pakistan Consulate to observe Kashmir Black Day.
The ceremony began with Recitation from the Holy Quran. A short documentary was screened to sensitize the audience on the issue of Kashmir and human rights violations committed by Indian occupation forces.
The members of Pakistani-American community in their remarks strongly condemned the Indian atrocities in Kashmir and called for just solution of the Kashmir dispute as promised to them by the International community in UN Security Council resolutions. A special presentation was also made by a renowned community member, highlighting human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
Consul General Javed Ahmed Umrani in his address highlighted the Indian atrocities and human rights situation in Kashmir and said that Indian occupation forces were using live ammunition and pellet guns with impunity. He also drew attention of the audience to the report and recommendations made by the Office of UN HCHR in June 2018 on Jammu and Kashmir that had shaken the delusion of India.
He urged the Pakistani-American community to draw attention of their respective Congressmen and Senators towards right of self-determination to the Kashmiri people, which has been promised to them by the international community.
He renewed Government of Pakistan’s unflinching moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiri people in their just struggle for the right to self-determination. He said that this support will continue till the realization of the cherished dream of freedom of millions of Kashmiris from draconian Indian occupation
