Association of Pakistani Americans of Bolingbrook has hosted Pakistan Independence Day programs in Bolingbrook for 29 years.
Pakistan's Independence Day is of extreme importance for every Pakistani national who lives either Pakistan and abroad. This year the Pakistani Independence Day celebration is different as America is the worst-hit Country including Chicago and its suburbs by the deadly coronavirus.
The Association of Pakistani Americans of Bolingbrook has hosted Pakistan Independence Day programs in Bolingbrook in the last 29 years. The Pandemic’s Effects on every celebration, including, Pakistan day celebration in Chicagoland. This is not a normal year for every community in America. The global pandemic and the social-distancing policies that have been put in place in every celebration Many celebrations were cancelled or turned to limited gathering.
Consul General of Pakistan, Chicago, Javed Umrani hosted a farewell reception for the former Mayor of Bolingbrook, Mr. Roger Claar on August 26th, 2020. The reception was attended by Acting Hon. Mayor of Bolingbrook, Mary Alexander Basta, Police Commissioner, Talat Rashid, founder of Pakistani-Americans association from Bolingbrook.

The flag of Pakistan was hosted by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago, Javed Umrani. American & Pakistani National Anthem was sung on the occasion. Prominent community members were also present on the occasion including acting Mayor of Bolingbrook, Hon. Mary Alexander Basta, Village Trustee Michael Carpanzano and several others.
