Chicago singer-songwriter and multimedia artist Linda Marie Smith brings her acclaimed original concert experience, Frida Kahlo ~ A Woman Who Dared, to Des Plaines Public Library on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

Following a sold-out Chicago premiere, this intimate music-multimedia performance offers a vivid portrait of one of the 20th century’s most iconic artists. Through original songs, narration, live ensemble performance, and cinematic projected imagery, Smith explores Frida Kahlo’s extraordinary life: her childhood, the devastating bus accident that altered her body and art, her turbulent relationship with Diego Rivera, her emergence as a painter, and the fierce creative spirit that continues to inspire audiences around the world.

Smith is joined by Rob Arendt on bass, Neal Alger on guitar, and Katherine Hughes on violin. Together, they create a compelling concert experience that weaves together storytelling, expressive live music, striking visual imagery, and original songs into a powerful portrait of Kahlo’s life and legacy.
