Car Carrier Accident Shuts Down Northwest Highway
The carrier struck a railroad overpass Friday morning, closing the highway between Broadway Street and Western Avenue.

An accident involving a car carrier hitting a railroad overpass Friday morning has shut down Northwest Highway in Des Plaines, the Daily Herald reports.
The highway is closed between Broadway Street and Western Avenue while the accident is being cleared away, the report stated.
The carrier hit the train overpass at around 8 a.m. as it was traveling westbound along the highway, and the road was closed to traffic in both directions. Train traffic also was briefly suspended after inspectors found that the bridge was still safe, according to the report.
