Car X Fire Remains Under Investigation

DES PLAINES, IL - The cause of a fire that severely damaged the Car X Auto Service business at 1108 E. Oakton St. in Des Plaines remains under investigation. Des Plaines fire units found the building completely engulfed after receiving a call of a car on fire at 1:24 p.m. on Dec. 29.

All employees were able to exit the business before fire personnel arrived to extinguish the fire.

The building was severely damaged. Both the roof and parts of the exterior walls collapsed, according to authorities.

Traffic on Oakton Street was also affected for hours.
