Chicago shows strong backing for Sheila Jackson as mayor of Houston

Many attendees at a reception to supported for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson to become Houston's next mayor

At a reception to raise money for Sheila Jackson Lee to become the next mayor of Houston, many people showed up in support of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson . On The evening of August 30, 2023, the event took place at the Alhambra Palace Restaurant in Chicago. Pakistani American Tariq Siddique, a longtime social worker and activist, served as the event's host.President of the Cook County Board Toni Preckwinkle and Mayor of Chicago Brandon Johnson are both on the organizing committee.

As a result of Sylvester Turner's term limit, the election for the position will take place in November. Despite Houston's strong blue color and the fact that the majority of the notable contenders are all Democrats, the position is nonpartisan.

Participants were thrilled to support her as Houston's future mayor with their financial support.who are hosting the event. Sheila Jackson Lee's bid for mayor of Houston was highlighted by host Tariq Siddique during his introductory remarks. She is the warrior we require to create the Houston we deserve.

"Sheila Jackson Lee is a long-serving pillar of the community who has fought for the rights of individuals on the local, state, and national level," stated Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago. She never gets tired and is constantly ready to go.
The event was attended by many of her family, friends, and local supporters who came to show their support for her campaign including Many elected officials.

Sheila Jackson addressed the City of Chicago, stating, "I hope I've been a humble servant for you for 28 years." I want to go back to my hometown of Houston and run for mayor. I can't get the job done without each and every one of you. Start the project immediately. If I were elected as Houston's next mayor, I would implement measures to promote the growth and upkeep of public safety. I would promote partnerships between the public and private sectors to create additional options for affordable housing, provide tax credits or other financial incentives to developers who build affordable housing, and simplify the approval process for such projects.

Alhambra Palace provided great meals for attendees. Chicago Brandon Johnson thanked everyone for their support and discussed her ambitions to implement significant change in Houston throughout her speech. One of her many skills is the exceptional ability to unite people to work towards a common objective.
