Complaint Filed Against Maryville Hospital

A complaint filed with the National Labor Relations Board by a nurses union says Maryville Behavioral Health Hospital in Des Plaines has unsafe working conditions.

The Illinois Nurses Association filed an unfair labor practice complaint against Maryville Academy Behavioral Health Hospital in Des Plaines, the Republic reports.

The union said the psychiatric hospital hasn't negotiated with nurses over mandatory bargaining issues this year, such as staffing, the publication reports. A representative from the nurses group said understaffing is contributing to unsafe working conditions, which is why they filed the complaint with the National Labor Relations Board this month. Maryville officials said they are working with the union, and have met with it 10 times.
