Cumberland Elementary Has a blast at First McTeacher's Night

Cumberland Elementary School students gave teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts.

Mt. Prospect| Cumberland Elementary School students gave teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts.

Thirty-one teachers and support staff from Cumberland Elementary School volunteered behind the counter on Tuesday, March 10th at the Mt. Prospect McDonald's located on Rand Rd., where they served students and their families in their first McTeacher's Night fundraiser.

Cumberland School Speech and Language teacher Gary Niemek enjoyed the duty of wearing an apple pie costume encouraging students to purchase a delicious apple pie while teachers tended the front counter, served ice cream, and assisted in table service delivering delicious food to families.

Colleen White, Principal, stated, "Great to see so many smiling faces from our families and staff. We had a blast!"

The proceeds from the 240 apple pies sold will help support the Cumberland Elementary School PTO. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher's Night sales were donated directly to the Cumberland School PTO.

An added bonus to the event was when teachers Libby Juskiewicz, Lisa Radakovic, Mathi Powles, and Nate Coon passed out raffle tickets to the students in attendance to win great prizes back at school.

Cumberland PTO Vice President Noah Scott said, "Definitely the most positive energy we have had at a dine-and-share! Also, our most successful dine-and-share to date. Thanks to all!"

PTO President Theresa Wager added "This was the most energetic and fun event that we've had to date. Our teachers and staff are amazing, and David Bear has given us an amazing opportunity to provide a fundraiser with heart! We had such a great time tonight. Thank you to all of our families, staff, and neighbors!"

David Bear, Owner Operator of the Mt. Prospect McDonald's and the Bear Family are delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and community.
