Delays Coming To South River Road For Railroad Repairs

The railroad crossing on South River Road near Miner Street will be closed to traffic on Thursday and Friday.

DES PLAINES, IL — Delays on South River Road in Des Plaines are likely to occur on Thursday and Friday as the road will be closed at the Union Pacific Railroad Crossing south of Miner Street. The closing was announced by the Illinois Department of Transportation Tuesday and is necessary to accomodate repair work that will be made on the railroad crossing both days.

A posted detour will direct northbound South River Road traffic to go west on Algonquin Road, north on Mannheim Road/Lee Street and southeast on Miner Street to reconnect with South River Road, according to IDOT. Southbound South River Road traffic will take the reverse route.

Repairs are scheduled to be done by the end of Friday depending on the weather.
