Des Plaines Garden Club February 12 Meeting

The Des Plaines Garden Club presents “Candy Making in Chicago,” on February 12th., at the Frisbie Senior Center, 52 E. Northwest Hwy., Des Plaines.  Leslie Goddard from Darien will give us a presentation on the history of candy making in Chicago.  Chicago produced at one time 1/3 of the nation’s candy:  Brach’s, Tootsie Roll, Cracker Jack, Frango Mints and many more.  This will begin at 1:00 pm.

At 11:00 a.m. bring a sandwich and our Hostesses will provide us with additional treats, which will be followed by our raffle  Our meeting starts at 12:00 p,m, and Bob Nicholson, our Horticulturist will discuss “Controlling Pests in Your Indoor Garden.” 

We will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Self-Help Closet and Food Pantry for the “Annual Food Fight Contest.”

Don’t forget to bring a Valentine related item for the raffle.
