Des Plaines Park District Hosted an Enchanted Evening at the 2026 Royal Ball

Held on Saturday, February 21 at the Lakeview Center in Des Plaines.

The Des Plaines Park District welcomed families for a magical night of dancing, laughter, and royal charm at the annual Royal Ball, held on Saturday, February 21 at the Lakeview Center in Des Plaines. The event transformed the lakeside venue into a glittering fairytale ballroom, bringing princess and prince dreams to life for children and families across the community.

Guests arrived dressed to impress—and were greeted by a beautifully decorated ballroom featuring twinkling lights, elegant draping, and enchanting themed displays.

From the moment families stepped inside, the Royal Ball delivered nonstop fun. The dance floor stayed full all evening with upbeat group dances, slow dances for sweet family moments, and popular favorites that brought smiles to both kids and adults. Many families enjoyed capturing memories at the themed photo station with royal backdrop perfect for keepsake photos. The evening also included a hands‑on craft where participants designed their own crowns. A special appearance by Cinderella added to the magic, offering photo opportunities that lit up the room.

A crowd favorite of the night was the lively Dads Dance-Off, where dads showed off their funniest and flashiest moves to the cheers of their kids. After plenty of laughs and some impressive footwork, one standout dad claimed the title of Royal Dance Champion and took home an amazing raffle basket packed with prizes.

“The Royal Ball is one of our favorite events of the year because it brings families together in such a joyful way,” said Don Miletic, Executive Director at the Des Plaines Park District. “Watching kids twirl around the dance floor, laugh with their families, and feel truly special is what this night is all about.” Dinner and sweet treats were available throughout the evening, giving families a chance to relax, mingle, and enjoy the festive atmosphere overlooking scenic Lake Opeka.
