Des Plaines Police Blotter: Trailer Stolen; Door Broken Down and More

Trucking Trailer Stolen

On May 30 at about 3 p.m.,  Central States Trucking dropped off a shipment at the loading dock at Schenkers, 1333 S. Mount Prospect Road, and the shipment was unloaded. The empty trailer sat at the loading dock. When Central States went to retrieve it, it was gone. Missing is a 53-foot white 2001 trailer, manufactured by Stoughton.

Police entered the vehicle into a stolen vehicle database. Schenkers was attempting to get surveillance video to police.

Offender Rips Plants from Garden

On June 6 about 6:30 a.m., a woman living in the 400 block of  North Third Avenue reported that someone had damaged her garden by removing all of the planted plants from the soil, causing many of them to die. Damage was estimated at $250.

Three People Break Down Door To Enter Home

A man living in on Fifth Court told police on May 31 about 5:45 a.m. that he had been sleeping when a friend called and asked if he wanted “company.” The man replied no, because he had to go to work in the morning. 

A loud crashing sound occurred at the front door, caused by a 28-year-old male with tattoos on his face neck, arms and body, using his shoulder to ram the door open. This individual, another unknown male , described as 5’ 10” and 200 pounds, and a woman, described as 5’ 1” and 170 pounds, with blonde hair in a ponytail, entered the residence.

One of the three asked the resident if he wanted to drink Hennessy Cognac. The resident told them to leave. One grabbed his cell phone and said he didn’t want the resident to call police. The woman apologized to the resident and offered to pay for the damaged door. The three individuals were in the residence only a few minutes.

The damage is estimated at about $500.

Smoke Shop on Elmhurst Road Burglarized 

On June 5 just after 3 a.m.., an unknown offender used a hunk of concrete to smash out the front door of the smoke shop, in  the 800 block of South Elmhurst Road.  After gaining entry, about $300 was taken and several smoking pipes were removed from a locked display case. 

Black Bag Thrown in River

On June 3, Des Plaines police received a call just after 10 p.m. that a woman in her 60s wearing all black clothing parked her 2008 Lexus four-door sedan on Thacker, walked across River Road with a black doctor’s bag and threw the bag into the Des Plaines River.

Police did not find a black doctor’s bag in a visual scan of the river. They phoned the woman. On June 4 just after midnight, the woman called the Des Plaines Police Station and said she was only throwing away a bag full of lamb bones. When police tried to obtain her personal information, she hung up.  She called back about 1:15 a.m. and reiterated what she had said in the earlier call.
