Des Plaines Police Missing 2 M-16's
The missing rifles were surplus from the Department of Defense.

The Des Plaines Police Department has lost two M-16A1 rifles, gifts from the Department of Defense, and the feds might want to know why. A recent internal audit revealed the two weapons are missing, and the police chief said he doesn’t know where they are. The rifles were military surplus given to the police in 2002 as part of a program to combat drugs and terrorism.
