Des Plaines Police End Standoff With Man Who Might Have Been Armed, Suicidal (UPDATED)
The man, who was handcuffed and taken away by ambulance after a 6-hour standoff, will mostly like face a weapons charge for the incident.

UPDATED (8:19 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18): The man responsible for a six-hour standoff with Des Plaines on Thursday will most likely face gun charges, according to the Daily Herald.
Police told the Herald that they plan to charge the individual with unlawful use of a weapon, the report stated. Family members also might face criminal charges for returning guns to the man after his Firearms Owner ID was revoked following a similar standoff in October of 2015, the report added.

UPDATED (7:19 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18): A man was taken away in handcuffs after a six-hour standoff with Des Plaines police Thursday near Willow Academy, according to Journal and Topics Online.
A SWAT team in riot gear and using an armored vehicle for protection approached the side of the home on Rose Avenue at about 5:45 p.m., the report stated. Tear gas was then fired into the home, the report added.

Police eventually removed a man in handcuffs and put him in a waiting ambulance, according to the report.
Des Plaines police had been in a standoff since about 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, with a man who was possibly armed and suicidal. The individual was believed to be intoxicated and was in possession of numerous guns inside the house, according to the Park Ridge Herald-Advocate.
Although the incident happened near Willow Academy, a private girls school, no students were in attendance, the Herald-Advocate reported.

DES PLAINES, IL — Police continue to be in a standoff with a man who is possibly armed and suicidal, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The standoff began after police received a call about a suicidal individual with a handgun at about 11 a.m. at a residence on Rose Avenue, east of Second Avenue, the report stated. A SWAT team was brought in and has been negotiating with the individual, who is thought to be intoxicated and keeping a numerous guns in the house, the report added.
This is the second time police have been in a standoff with this man that involved him being armed and suicidal, the Tribune reports. That incident happened about a year ago and lasted a couple hours, the report added.
