Des Plains Man Wins $250K on Illinois Lottery Quick Pick Ticket
Martin Schwalm did not have to travel far to claim his quarter-million dollar prize.

DES PLAINES, IL - Does having one of the state's five Illinois Lottery prize centers in town make Des Plaines lucky in itself?
That was the case for local resident Martin Schwalm, who didn't need to travel far to claim the $225,000 he won off a winning Quick Pick ticket earlier this month.
Schwalm matched all five numbers - 02, 09, 21, 25, 30 - in the Thursday, Nov. 10 Lucky Day Lotto evening drawing, according to Illinois Lottery officials. He plans to buy a house with his winnings.

The 59-year-old man bought the winning ticket at the Mobil at 9660 Golf Road in Des Plaines. He will share the $450,000 jackpot from that day with another winner who picked the same numbers at the Gee 'N Jays on Dundee Avenue in Elgin.
The Des Plaines Mobil received a bonus of $2,250, or one percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
