District 62 Names New Assistant Superintendent

Mark Bertolozzi was named Assistant Superintendent for Business Services for Des Plaines School District 62.

DES PLAINES, IL - From Des Plaines School District 62: Mark Bertolozzi was named the Assistant Superintendent for Business Services at the December 18 Board of Education Meeting.

Bertolozzi is no stranger to District 62 having gone through the school system as a child.

“As a graduate of District 62, I am really excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the district in which I was once a student,” said Bertolozzi.

The Assistant Superintendent for Business Services is responsible for overseeing the financial and business operations. Oversight includes financial planning, budgeting, purchasing, facilities, fiscal accounting, financial reporting, grants, insurance, transportation, food services, warehousing, and accounts payable.

Bertolozzi will replace Nelson Gray who will retire at the end of the school year.

Bertolozzi has many years of experience in the business field and in education. Over the last five years, he has served as the Chief Financial Officer of McHenry Community Consolidated School District 15. Prior to his tenure in McHenry, Bertolozzi was the Business Manager at Wood Dale School District 7 for five years. He is presently serving a three-year term as a director on the state board of the Illinois Association of School Business Officials (IASBO).

Bertolozzi holds a Bachelor’s of Science from Marquette University and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Chicago.

“We are very excited to have Mark join the team in District 62,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Paul Hertel. “Mark brings extended experience to the district having worked in multiple school districts as well as serving on the IASBO Board. All these qualities will benefit District 62 and our students.”

Bertolozzi is set to begin July 1.

“District 62 is a well-respected district with a long tradition of excellence,” said Bertolozzi. “I hope to continue and help build upon that tradition.”
